JIL NL Outdoor Fellowship

This year’s JIL Netherlands Outdoor Fellowshipping took place on the 22nd of August in the Haarlemmerpark. The event pulled around 140 participants, from Amsterdam and Den Haag including several guests from Germany representing Berlin, Wiesbaden and Braunschweig.

For a moment, it seemed that rain and other unpleasant weather conditions threatened spoiling the festivities, but then it quickly turned into a nice, warm Summer day with plenty of UV radiation to bronze our already colorful tint some more.

The event started with praise and worship celebration led by Sis. Herline Mutas; followed by a prayer and note of welcome.
Obviously, no proper outing is complete without food, so the chafing dishes and plastic containers filled with varieties of delicious edibles were brought and served, as well as several liters of soft drinks and juices, and of course, barbeque grills were once again filled with varieties of meat.

There was an opportunity for those who were not yet baptized, or wanted to be rebaptized for the second time, to be water baptized in the park’s lake. The water baptism, conducted by Pastora Gigi Aballe and Pastora Mimi dela Cruz, assisted by Bro. Rico Casunuran and Bro.Joel Aballe, was the central, most important event of the day. So it came to be that the twenty-three participants clad in white were baptized, signifying their faith in Christ publicly.

Games were played for the rest of the day. The children were divided into two teams, red and white, and mostly played relay games, which were led by Sis. Shirley Galicia, assisted by Sis. Dolly Llaneza and Sis.Joy Roxas.

Also notable were the intense battles between the “Inner Beauty” and “Forever Beauty” women groups, which took place on the playgrounds and were coordinated by Sis. Luz Anacta and Sis. Cerelyn Andres, involving jumping ropes, hula-hoops and the wearing of several silly hats. Most of the other visitors participated in either volleyball (led by Bro. Mike dela Cruz and Sis. Girlie Apalla) and basketball (led by Bro. Pamping Anacta and Bro. Dick Alava). Badminton games were planned, but were alas cancelled due to the weather conditions. Everyone gave their all, and the eventual victors received their shared rewards for their achievements and abundant amounts of sweets and treats.

The day ended with a raffle draw – a principle of giving and sharing with fun. Prizes included a printer, digital camera and Nintendo Wii with a Laptop being the grand prize which was received by our sister of JIL Den Haag.

Praise & Worship Celebration!

For the Lord’s amazing blessing and faithfulness over the years, his people knows no better way to pay its rightful tribute to the Master Creator than a glorious praise and worship that represents a heart that loves him.

The theme for this celebration ” Our highest worship to the Everlasting God”, quoting the word of God in Phil. 2:10-11. JIL Amsterdam celebrated God’s faithfulness through the offering of Praise & Worship to our exalted King. The church has corporately lifted up the highest worship to Him in whom all blessings flow. God is indeed, worthy to receive all the glory, wealth, power, strength, domininion and praises. His name Jesus is forever exalted in heaven, on earth and under the earth.

The Worship Arts Ministry, headed by Sis. Mhyline Santiago hosted this celebration that lasted for nearly three hours.

The Movenerate and Triune were in collaboration for their awesome special numbers. The Movenerate dancers presented a “mime dance” and the Triune dancers rendered the “interpretative dance”. Bro. Nick Dela Cruz also exalted God with his song.

God is worthy of all praises, glory and honor.

Father’s Day

Father Heart God!

JIL Amsterdam celebrated Father’s day in honor to all the fathers who were loved and appreciated by their family and love ones. The church as their second family has conducted a special service for this occasion as we recognize the importance of honoring all the fathers.

The Praise and worship led by Sis. Mhyline Santiago was truly anointed. Everyone humbly offered their worship unto God with reverence to the Master and King, who is also our Father. His people expressed the thirstiness of their soul. It was awesome, we believe God was delighted. Just right after the worship, we felt the presence of the Heavenly Father has manifested. He has visited his people in a very special way. His manifested presence brought release, freedom, refreshing and blessings to his people. It was comforting to know that we have a Father that will not abandon us.

The Word of God shared by Ptr. Mimi quoting Luke 15:17-19, has blessed all the fathers. She underscored that the characteristics of a godly father is known of providing for the needs of his child, he is determine to instruct his child, point his child to the path of life and show his child how to walk upon it. He builds the solid foundation through the impartation and living out the biblical principle of God. A father is also willing to lay down his life for his family most especially to his children.

Ptr. Mimi also added that the heart of a father is found in the heart of God. In order for a man to be the kind of father that his children need, a man must understand what kind of a father God is to his children.

The climax of the celebration was during the distribution of certificate to all the Fathers, a gesture of honoring them in the presence of God and in the midst of the congregation.

Glory to God for gifting us a wonderful earthly father and the assurance that we are loved by our Heavenly Father. His love is everlasting both now and forevermore.

The celebration was concluded with a special number rendered by the Children’s Network. A special revised song ” MAHAL NA MAHAL KITA O DADDY KO” from the original song ” MAHAL NA MAHAL KITA PANGINOON” and this has truly brought joy to the fathers. Glory to God!

Phil. Independence Day

PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION.

JILC Amsterdam celebrated the Philippine Independence Day in commemorating God’s divine intervention upon the nation of Philippines and the Filipino people. There were two parts of the celebration, one was during the Phil. Independence Day Picnic in Spaarnwoude and the second was the celebration in the church.

Part I:

JIL Amsterdam joined the thousands of Filipinos during the Barbecue Picnic in Sparnwoude on 06 June 2009. The picnic was hosted by the Filipino organizations in the Netherlands. The Worship Arts Ministry rendered three special numbers; the Mindanao Dance (Muslim Dance), Interpretative Dance (interpreting DAKILANG LAHI – a patriotic song) and the last one was a song ” HILUMIN MO ANG BAYAN KO”. An intense prayer through songs, asking God to heal our land the Philippines.

We believe that our presence during the picnic celebration proves that we are part of the filipino community here in this nation of Holland. The Lord made a way for us to raise his banner as a Filipino.

Part II:

There is no other way known to His people in glorifying God for what he has done 111 years ago in the Philippines and upon the lives of the Filipino people but through a joyful and dynamic celebration. On June 07, 2009; the Worship service was conducted in Tagalog from Praise and Worship to the preaching of the Word of God.

The Worship Arts Ministry once again displayed the beauty of the culture of the Filipinos as they cascaded the dance and songs of the Philippines through the rendition of special numbers.

The celebration ended with prophetic prayers offered by our brethren. Bro. Basil Santiago in a specific plea for God to intervene in our government, he pleaded to God for a righteous governance in our nation from the president down to the lowest position. Bro. Anthony Galicia led a prayer of supplication that God will continue to eradicate the prevalent corruption in our nation and the injustices that had suppressed the rights of the Filipinos. Ptr. Mimi humbly asked God in prayer to bless the Filipino nation and the Filipino people. It was a prayer of faith that God will restore the identity of the Philippines – as the PEARL OF ASIA, a nation chosen and blessed by God.

Glory to God for he has reminded us that we should not forget the Lord in the land where he has blessed us and that we should not abandon and forget our nation where we came from. The Filipinos should have a genuine concern for his country and instead of cursing the nation because of its present state – we should begin to bless by praying and believing that we will rise up again through God’s intervention.

Computer Training for Leaders
By: Bro. Basil Santiago

In the beginning we had Words and the Words were in the Microsoft Office. Yes, that’s right JIL Amsterdam held its first computer training last Saturday May 16, 2009. The training was held in the JIL Office in Amsterdam and was conducted by Ptr. Mimi dela Cruz. It was a day of learning and fun as we all paid attention to the lessons given.

The beamer went on. The laptops and Notebooks were opened. As we got ready for the lesson you could see those laptops in different sizes. It’s a pity that not all the leaders were able to attend the seminar, but no stress, we will have a second session as promised by our own Ptr. Mimi dela Cruz.

We started out with the Microsoft Office program Words. It was surprising what you could do with Words. Personally, I only thought that Word is a program where I can type my letters and that’s it but no, there is much to it than the naked eyes could see. Things got easier for us as we learned how to work with Words. Although, some could not keep up with Ptr. Mimi we managed to understand and apply the things that were taught.

After Words we proceeded to Powerpoint. Yes, very important for those who preaches on Sundays. We learned how to change the backgrounds and we learned how to work with special effects. I could laugh at myself for finding out that you could paste a video on PowerPoint. I didn’t know that. It was interesting also to learn how to put diagrams on Powerpoint. Very handy when presenting a report on meetings.

From PowerPoint Teaching we went ahead with Excel. For those in the Admin and Finance department this was a good opportunity to learn from it. This part of the training was the most difficult to understand. I’m glad I’m not in the Admin or the Finance Department. It was good to see it though. Like in Words you could make tables on it, but don’t ask me about those formulas I got lost already at the tables.

Last lesson, was short orientation on how to operate the Easy worship for the praise & worship. This is to prepare us in case, we will be assisting our projector team in the future.

All in all it was a day not wasted. We had fun during the sessions and at the same time we could learn a lot from it. For those who have missed it please I advise you to come the next time. For those who attended the seminar, well, it will surely not hurt to attend again. I am sure there are more to learn from it. So let us grab the opportunity to learn as it is being offered to us. Glory to God!
